This week the Flemish Land Agency starts working in order to develop the nature area of Dauteweyers for the Green Tree Frog. Now that the breeding season is over, the contractor can start cleaning the ponds. A row of trees that is destabilizing the bank and brings unwanted shadow on the ponds, will be largely hacked. After all, the adoption type of Limburg loves sunny roughs and (blackberry) flour with huges leaves and flowers with fruits that attract insects.
The Green Tree Frog needs shallow, quick heating ponds and pools so as to lay off eggs. During winter it is important that the ponds are dry and that fish eating is not possible.
Fish hunt for young tadpoles in spring and therefore the ponds are adapted and the old fill and the exhaust system is renewed.
