The city of Genk and the Flemish Land Agency have ambitious plans for the Stiemerbeek valley. With financial support of the European Life+ project Green4Grey, a team was compiled to create a master plan in order to develop the valley into a city park. Goal is to develop the park with blue-green elements so that the strategic city sites are connected.
The city slogan of Genk 'make the city together' does it all: they organise interaction between neighbours and make city tours by bike in order to build plans. Together with the citizens they look for solutions to make it a comfortable green spots where they can meet, bicycle, walk, garden, play, sent nature etc. On 11 December inhabitants can come to Waterschei in the morning and the sports park in the afternoon.
