Blue/green infrastructure
With this project, The Flemish Land Agency aims to convert the scarce remaining urban open space fragments into ecological stepping stones with a multifunctional character.: the so-called blue and green infrastructure. Together, these stepping stones form a blue/green network throughout built-up areas. The ecological stepping stones have a high social added value, as they fulfill multiple other functions, such as sustainable food production, natural water retention, recreation and green lung.
