Launch Stiemervalley campaign

25 May, 2018

The city of Genk, the Flemish Land Agency and other partners are working together so as to bring the Stiemer on the map. A master plan for the valley of the Stiemerbeek has been worked out in the context of Green4Grey. The valley of the Stiemerbeek is a green lung with the Stiemerbeek as most important element. The stream meanders over 7 kilometer from the Thorpark (Schansbroek project) through the whole city of Genk and the nature reserve 'De Maten' (Slagmolen project).

This valley connects different strategic sites in Genk and will get a complete make over in the future. The main goals of the master plan are: upgrading nature, creating possibilities for recreation and taking care of a more natural water retemption system.

Green4Grey is financing this master plan and the design will be finished in autumn.

In order to create support for the upgrade and development of the area, the city of Genk is releasing a campaign so as to envolve citizens of the valley.
